We offer a very comprehensive 'Process and Quality Control' inspection system viz. the HOT ROD SYSTEM from our principal company M/s Pruftechnik NDT GmbH, Germany - for producers of hot rolled material. We have these installations in few of the biggest and renowned steel companies in India. Testing can be carried out effectively at extremely high temperatures (1200 deg Celsius) and at very high rolling speeds (120 m/s).

Our solution helps customers to minimize the production of poor quality due to process malfunctions by giving a detailed real-time overview of the production trend. The system consists of the EDDYCHEK 5 eddy current tester, the EDDYTREND trend analysis software, and a water-cooled, robust test coil and holder. The Eddytrend software displays the last four coils to let you identify quality trends early and stop production deterioration before it escalates.

Periodic defects like roll marks caused by broken roll/roller, rolled in matter in guides etc are detected effectively thereby providing the user a very high degree of process control measure in his mill.

Random defects like shells, slivers, cracks, pinholes, scabs, inclusions, overlaps, pittings defects etc are reliably detected. A defect size > 0.15 mm (dependant on the material and the product diameter) is the defect detectability that can be assured in this technology.

Scab Defects

When networked to a central control panel, the testing system can be operated entirely by remote control: test parameters are prepared in advance and downloaded for each coil or batch when needed. This helps to have a fully integrated concept and a high level of automation.

This technology fully assures the customer in having early feedbacks on the Hot Rolling process, identify the source of problems, reduce scrap and assure a good, consistent product quality.
