X-Y Scanners

Inspections made easy

1. MS-XY-2 Scanners

The MS-XY-2, is a dual-rectilinear axis manual scanner designed to inspect flat to gently curving surfaces. It includes a "universal mount" for positioning transducers of virtually any shape or geometry. The scanner includes both magnetic and suction cup mounting capability.

The scanner can be configured to scan or index on either axis and produces full 2-D/3-D C-Scan inspection image. Each axis of the scanner can be individually "locked" in place (and released) by the user. The scanner also comes in an automated version, which features a high speed stepper-motor driven in excess of 7 inches (175 mm) per second. The Scan Area is ~ 18 x 20 inches (46 x 50 cm), with an Encoder Resolution of > 0.002 in. (0.05 mm).

2. Smartscanner

For inspection of vessels, pipes, flanges, spheres, or storage tanks, the Smartscanner can meet most application needs.

This two-axis magnetic wheel carriage can be fitted with both a raster arm or multichannel TOFD frame. This can scan single channel or multichannel, straight beam, angle beam, TOFD, or combined TOFD and pulse echo.

Product Features:

  • Dual axis motion control
  • Magnetic wheels
  • Compliant transducer holder for scanning uneven surfaces
  • Scans flat plate to small diameter pipe
  • Small and compact two-axis controller
  • Optional 200-foot cable
  • Economical and field proven

3. Manual Scanner, Mag XY

This manual magnetic wheel scanner is small, compact, and has two encoded axis. It scans components of up to three inches in diameter. This can be used for angle beam raster scanning (weld examination) and straight beam examination (corrosion mapping).

Product Features:

  • Dual axis manual scanner
  • Magnetic wheels
  • Compliant transducer holder for scanning uneven surfaces
  • Scans flat plate to small diameter pipe optional
  • 200-foot cable
  • Small and compact design
  • Economical and field proven

4. Manual TOFD Scanner

This single axis manual scanner is designed for your TOFD applications. Acquire your TOFD data with two opposing channels of Pulse Echo data, allowing better coverage of the back surface zone.

Product Features:

  • Manually driven
  • Single axis
  • Adjustable transducer slides for varying thicknesses
  • Compliant gimbal for scanning uneven surfaces
  • Optional magnetic wheels
  • Adapts to a wide range of pipe sizes
  • Economical and field proven

This scanner comes with either hardened rubber wheels and magnetic wheels.

5. Manual Pipe Scanner

The Manual Pipe Scanner is a dual axis scanner with a unique and simple clamp-on design. This is used primarily for small to medium diameter nonferrous pipes for corrosion mapping and angle beam weld examination.

Product Features:

  • Simple to use and ruggedized
  • Quick change clamps for varying pipe sizes
  • Encoders on each axis
  • Detents on each axis
  • Raster scan or random walk
  • Sure fitting metal screw lock connectors

6. Mouse Scanner

This single axis manual scanner encodes any handheld transducer. Take a line scan, monitor corrosion, or scan an entire set of boiler tubes. This tiny scanner tackles the large jobs.

Product Features:

  • Handheld ergonomic design
  • Adapts to standard wedges and transducers
  • Handles straight or angle beam transducers
  • Encoded axis for pulse on position
  • Transducer aims parallel or perpendicular to encoded axis
  • Acquire single line scans or build C scans
  • Simple, intelligent, and affordable

7. Four-Wheel Wall Crawler

Attach a 50-pound payload and let this four-wheel drive wall crawler take off vertically. This crawler is perfect for your tank wall corrosion mapping needs when used with our Tankwall Analysis software. The hard-gripping magnetic wheels, skid steering, 4-axle independent suspension allows this crawler to scan anywhere and roll over anything (i.e. weld joints) that lies on its path.

Product Features:

  • Four-wheel drive and four-wheel independent suspension
  • Accomodates up to 1" of surface irregularity
  • Joystick for speed and steering control
  • Compliant transducer holder for wall thickness measurements
  • Strong magnetic wheels provide sure traction
  • Simple, intelligent, and affordable

8. Nozzle Scanner

The nozzle scanner is a manual dual axis magnetic wheel scanner designed specifically to handle the complex geometry of most vessel nozzles. Inspection of your nozzle using automated UT ensures full coverage with repeatable and accurate results. Analysis software corrects and overlays part geometry over the recorded data, simplifying the data review and removing the complexity of a complex component. Depending upon nozzle design and geometry, examination can be done by either using dual or single axis.

Product Features:

  • Manually driven
  • Dual axis position output
  • Compliant gimbal for scanning uneven surfaces
  • Magnetic wheels
  • Fits 4" and larger nozzles
  • Economical and field proven

9. High Temperature Scanner

The high temperature automated scanner is specifically for high temperature scanning tasks, typically undertaken on a wide variety of pipe sizes. The surface temperature can be as high as 400 - 500 deg Celsius and suitable high temperature probes are employed for this application.

Product Features:

  • Motorized Raster Scanner
  • Dual Axis
  • Fits in tight spaces
